Leadership & Operating Model

Built for clarity, not complexity.

Avolatus Systems is structured to stay close to the operational problems it is built to solve. Focused leadership, specialized expertise, and direct customer engagement allow the company to move with purpose while maintaining discipline in how decisions are made and work is delivered.

The goal is simple: bring the right capability to the right problem without adding unnecessary complexity.

Operating Model

How Avolatus Systems operates.

Avolatus Systems is built around a focused operating model that combines leadership, specialized expertise, technical capability, and trusted collaboration. Each part of that model serves a specific purpose in how the company develops solutions, supports customers, and responds to operational needs.

Core Leadership

Sets direction, owns product and aviation maintenance strategy, and remains directly connected to customer needs and operational priorities.

Specialized Expertise

Brings focused subject-matter capability into the work when a problem requires experience or knowledge beyond the company’s core focus.

Technical Resources

Support the development, operation, reliability, and continued improvement of Avolatus Systems products and digital resources.

Trusted Collaborators

Extend capability for specific delivery, implementation, or advisory needs when the work benefits from additional expertise.

Why This Structure

Focused by design.

Avolatus Systems is designed to keep accountability clear and decisions close to the work. The company brings in additional capability when it adds value, while preserving direct ownership of the problems being solved and the outcomes being pursued.

That structure supports speed, adaptability, and a stronger connection to the realities of aviation maintenance operations.

Leadership

James L. Simmons Jr.

Founder and Principal

James founded Avolatus LLC to provide aviation consulting, training, and operational support grounded in real maintenance experience. As the work expanded into digital tools, decision-support solutions, and technology-enabled resources, Avolatus Systems was established as the next evolution of that mission.

Today, James leads product direction, aviation maintenance strategy, and customer engagement for Avolatus Systems, bringing nearly three decades of aviation maintenance, quality, compliance, and operational leadership experience to the products and solutions the company develops.

He began his aviation career as a U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk Crew Chief and has spent his career working at the intersection of maintenance execution, quality systems, workforce development, and operational leadership. That experience continues to shape how Avolatus Systems approaches the problems it chooses to solve.
